A small-town boy Vijay Shekhar Sharma from Aligarh has initiated a step towards his dreams to make India cashless by presenting us his digital wallet Paytm. Today we all know him as a founder and CEO of Paytm.

He is a small-town boy of Aligarh who completed his schooling in Hindi medium and being a topper there too. Being a poor English proficient, he had to face many problems while appearing for the IIT and other competitive exams but he is a man who believes in converting impossible into possible. He started to understand these course materials by reading Hindi and English medium books both and that’s what results in cracking his IIT exam.

His debut on the business platform comes with his first company named XS Communications which he opened during his college days. This made him an expert in coding and designed a Content Management System on his own which was later used by many of the publication houses like The Indian Express.

However, he is having a fluctuating business journey where once he was bankrupt by his business partners who were actually his college friends. But he was not a man to give up easily and the biggest eureka came in 2010 in the form of One-97 when the idea of a digital wallet came to his mind. It was the parent company of Paytm and he experimented with the three basics of the internet which are content, advertising, and commerce.

This idea of a payment ecosystem was not accepted by the board. According to them, it was like betting a company’s money on a non-existence market. He put his own $2 million at stake to launch his brand finally and the rest we all know. He has another mantra of his success where he believes in doing what the people say you can’t do. This is what he finds real fun and motivated him too.

And with this belief Paytm came to India for making the people cashless with full safety. The demonetization of 2016 is another winning element to gave this digital wallet momentum and became the wallet nationwide.
